They changed my beddings for the following night, which was the normal thing to do. However on the next night I noticed other insects on the bed (and those looked like bedbug! See pictures) When I informed the manager (tall, thin man with glasses and gray hair) at the reception desk, he first denied those were insects, he then told me that he could not control whether flies would go in the room or not (I?m a geneticist and study flies, these are NOT flies) when I said so to him he started being angry, shouting and told me that there was no bugs in his hotel and that maybe I brought them in myself! He then finished by shouting that bedbugs are normal to have that they are everywhere and that I cannot live in a bubble! | Bedbugs and bad management! RUN! I?m a scientist, I came to Heidelberg for a conference at EMBL. My institute booked me this hotel for my stay? what a horrific experience this was ? I first arrived at the hotel in the evening (the reception was closed) however I managed to get my key easily through their keybox. But when I entered my room there was no electricity in it (no light nor electricity to plug my phone) I called the emergency number they had, they however did not answer. I had only 10% of battery left on my phone (so could not use my phone light nor call them later on? ) I therefore had to go out of my room and search for the electricity box myself. I luckily ended up finding it in the corridor and switched on the electricity back in my own room ? very strange start of a stay in a hotel! He then finished by shouting that bedbugs are normal to have that they are everywhere and that I cannot live in a bubble! He then just left me alone in the lobby! As I mentioned I am a geneticist and I am not afraid of insects! However bedbugs spread very rapidity and must be taken seriously! Indeed it can happen anywhere, but denying their presence and not trying to accommodate customers (by moving them in a new room) is simply scandalous for any hotel? I cannot emphasis how much I regret having to stay in this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone! Not only do they have insects (and don?t do anything about it) but if you have any problem, the manager will not assist you! Run away! |
